How to Stop a Headache

Headaches are very common for the most of us. Some are caused by stress, dehydration, symptoms of an illness, but many times we might find ourselves not being unable to identify with any of those causes. However, in that very moment the most important thing to us is how to get rid of our headache. Examples of two common types’ headaches include: migraine and tension headaches. Here are some ways to alleviate a headache.

  1. Hydration

Drinking lots of water or fluid is crucial in getting rid of a headache .Keeping the body hydrated will surely help in relieving a headache in most cases.

  1. Cool compress

The application of a cool compress to the forehead has been an ancient practice which still works in reducing the intensity of a headache .Generally cold/cool compresses are said to reduce inflammation so it is perhaps linked to that theory. Should you not have a typical cool compress available, a cool dampen wash cloth or towel across forehead is just fine.

  1. Painkiller

Taking over -the -counter painkiller such as paracetamol, ibuprofen or acetaminophen can be quite effective in stopping a headache. Special care must be taken if you are allergic to any of these. Despite the intensity of the headache, it is advised to only take the recommended dosage to avoid a drug overdose. If over-the -counter drug does not work, it is advised to seek further medical treatment.

  1. Sleeping

Taking it down a notch by getting some well needed rest might be the best idea. Most people report that sleeping actually relieves their headache or lessen its intensity.

  1. Relaxation

In some cases, the intensity may inhibit the individual from falling sleep so carrying out relaxation techniques might be useful. Such techniques may include: deep breathing, listening to soft music or a quiet, dark area that has less stimulus.

  1. Massage

Massaging the temples and scalp have been said to work for some people because it increases circulation to the area.

    but what about a migraine. what do i do when i cant even open my eyes.. im struggling to find a way to relieve pain from my crazy migraines. seeking all advice
