This topic is a touchy topic persons have their own beliefs as to whether skipping breakfast is healthy or unhealthy. This topic is interesting because at primary school I had this one teacher who at the beginning of every single class would ask us who didn’t have breakfast. And those who raised their hands he took them straight to the canteen and bought them something to eat. His ideology is that you can’t learn as efficiently as you could on an empty stomach!
Some people believe skipping breakfast does not have any effect on your body. It is said that breakfast doesn’t increase your metabolism, neither does skipping breakfast stop muscle breakdown. Another theory is that skipping breakfast can increase your hunger throughout the day.
The above points in my opinion are really far fetched but nonetheless, I do believe in a big hearty breakfast to get your day going. Eating breakfast gives you the energy you need to stay active. When sugar levels are low it becomes hard to concentrate and remember things, definitely affecting your brain power. Eating breakfast assists in bowel movements. Breakfast stimulates your stomach and intestines, improving movement and preventing constipation.
A study in Japan carried out by Yoko Watanabe states and proves that skipping breakfast is correlated with obesity. The scope of the study was to investigate the relationship between the time of meals and obesity. With an array of research questions in Japan both males and females such as skipping breakfast were significantly related to obesity. The study determined that skipping breakfast was more negative than eating dinner less than three hours before bedtime.
Therefore it is fair to conclude, don’t skip breakfast it is very important! Even if you are on a strict diet you should not skip any meals, just eat something high in nutritional value to give you that extra spark or jump you need to start your day off the right way.
